As Paul Ramon says, “Ramon Roofing started with a great opportunity and a little luck.” Back in 1995, Paul was working for another roofing company.
Out of the blue, a family friend approached him to see if he could install a roof for him personally.
He explained to Paul that he didn’t want the hassle of using a large roofing company and asked Paul if he was up for the task.
As you might guess, Paul said, “Yes!” and quickly worked to get ready.
To prepare for the job, Paul got a crew together, contacted suppliers, and got to work on the roof of his first client’s 6,000 SqFt. home.
After a job well done, Paul’s first personal client paid him in cash. Once he was finished paying off the crew and the supplier, Paul was left with a $5,000 profit.
To quote Paul, “With that money, I formed Ramon Roofing.”
This unexpected opportunity ended up being the greatest blessing for Paul.
From one random job, he realized how many opportunities there were in owning your own roofing business.
With all of his previous roofing jobs, Paul was a low-paid 1099 contractor. “Worse, sometimes the companies didn’t have the funds to pay me for weeks at a time.”
With this great opportunity, combined with a drive to grow beyond being a contractor, he knew that starting Ramon Roofing was the correct choice.
